DLSU-M CHED ZRC leads first HEIs research conference

De La Salle University-Manila Commission on Higher Education Zonal Research Center (CHED ZRC) spearheads the First Research Conference for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the National Capital Region on April 10-12.

The conference aims to strengthen the research capabilities of HEIs under the supervision of DLSU-M CHED ZRC. With a vision to establish a culture of research in the National Capital Region (NCR), the university invited researchers from various HEIs as well as DLSU-M faculty to the three-day research conference.

Leading the research presentors who will hold plenary sessions are Brother Andrew Gonzales, FSC, Dr. Lourdes Bautista, Dr. Wilfredo Licuanan, and Dr. Lloyd Espiritu.

On April 10, Bautista will present her research paper on “The New Englishes and the Teaching of Grammar” at 10:30 a.m. at the Waldo Perfecto Seminar Room (WPSR).

Br. Andrew will present his research on “Elements of the Verb System in F. Sionil Jose’s Ben Singkol: Aspects of Philippine English” on April 11, 9:20 a.m., at the Ariston Estrada Seminar Room. At the same time, Licuanan will talk on “The Impacts of Mass Coral Bleaching in the Philippines in Relation to Socio-economic Condition of Coastal Communities” at the Tereso Lara Seminar Room. Espiritu will share his paper titled “Rightsizing Technology in Schools” on April 12, 9:20 a.m., at WPSR.

With a total of 54 research papers, thirteen parallel sessions will be conducted during the research conference. Aside from these, seminars on writing for publication, intellectual property rights, and materials development will be held respectively, from 1-2 p.m. every day.

Director of DLSU-M CHED ZRC Dr. Rosemarie Montañano will give the welcome address during the opening ceremonies. Dr. Amelia Biglete, Director IV of CHED NCR, will give the keynote address.

Since its awarding in 2000, DLSU-M CHED ZRC has been spearheading research activities that seek to encourage a culture of research in the entire region.
