DLWF Chairperson elected to the National Council of the American Studies Association

Dr. Oscar Campomanes, chairperson of the Department of Literature and Philippine Languages, was elected to the National Council of the American Studies Association of the United States this March.

The ASA-USA members, which number in the several thousands in the US and internationally, chose Campomanes as one of the five scholars to serve on the Council for a term equivalent to three years, effective July 2002.

Joining Campomanes on the council are: Cheryl Harris and Chon Noriega of the University of California-Los Angeles; Gary Okihiro, Columbia University; and Roy Rosenzweig, George Mason University.

The Nominating Committee informed Campomanes of his selection in December 2001. Dr. John Stephens, executive director of the association, officially notified him of his election to the Council on March 11.

Campomanes is the first and only Americanist scholar from outside the United States to be nominated and elected to the ASA National Council. His duties will include travel to the United States once a year for the next three years to attend business meetings of the ASA’s governing body.

DLSU-M implements express diploma delivery

De La Salle University-Manila’s Office of the University Re-gistrar announces the implementation of Express Diploma Delivery. This project aims to send out to La Salle alumni diplomas that were never claimed at the University.

The Office of the University Registrar will no longer require alumni to secure clearances from concerned units in the University. Instead, the Registrar’s Office will take charge of securing clearances for the alumni through the newly adopted system.

All the alumnus or alumna has to do is make a check payable to DE LA SALLE UNIVERSITY, write the following details at the back of the check: name, delivery address, telephone number, and send the check addressed to the Office of the University Registrar.

The diplomas will be delivered via door-to-door courier, which takes about one to five working days, depending on the deli-very address specified.

For questions about the Express Diploma Delivery, please call (632) 524-4611 extension 114 or email regofc@mail.dlsu.edu.ph.
