DLSU-M places second in UAAP overall standing

De La Salle University-Manila placed second at the close of the 64th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
Five first half titles placed the University as lead in the race to a hopeful first general championship title. The men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s chess, and men’s swimming teams earned repeat championship crowns, while the men’s volleyball team received its first ever championship title.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the time capsule last November 29 signaled the start of the University’s commemoration of its 100th year. Photo shows Brother Rolando Dizon, FSC, burying the cyclindrical time capsule at the St. La Salle statue, Marian Quad-rangle. A regular update on the 10-year centennial countdown celebration will be released in this publication.

In the second half, the Green Jins won their second straight taekwondo championship, while the men’s and women’s track and field teams finished as runners-up in their respective races. On the other hand, the Green Tennisters placed third, the Green Paddlers fourth, and the Men’s Football Team sixth. Meanwhile, the Green Judokas gained the first runner-up title to cap the end of the season.

Third place overall last year, La Salle climbed a notch higher, bagging a total of 175 points to beat previous runner up University of the Philippines with only 170 points. The University of Santo Tomas placed first with 214 points.
