places second in UAAP overall standing
De
La Salle University-Manila placed second at the close of the
64th season of the University Athletic Association of the
Philippines (UAAP).
Five first half titles placed the University as lead in the
race to a hopeful first general championship title. The men’s
basketball, women’s basketball, men’s chess, and men’s swimming
teams earned repeat championship crowns, while the men’s volleyball
team received its first ever championship title.

The
groundbreaking ceremony for the time capsule last November
29 signaled the start of the University’s commemoration

In
the second half, the Green Jins won their second straight
taekwondo championship, while the men’s and women’s track
and field teams finished as runners-up in their respective
races. On the other hand, the Green Tennisters placed third,
the Green Paddlers fourth, and the Men’s Football Team sixth.
Meanwhile, the Green Judokas gained the first runner-up title
to cap the end of the season.
Third
place overall last year, La Salle climbed a notch higher,
bagging a total of 175 points to beat previous runner up University
of the Philippines with only 170 points. The University of
Santo Tomas placed first with 214 points.
