NRCP cites Lasallian research efforts

CED Dean honored with Achievement Award

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), a research body with over 2,400 members nationwide, recently recognized Lasallian contributions that promote the advancement of science.
Among those recognized by NRCP was College of Education Dean Dr. Allan Bernardo for his significant contributions in the fields of education and psychology.

Working through researches that will build up a body of Filipino men and women devoted to scientific research, NRCP serves as an advisory body to the national government. It handles research projects that deal on crucial problems and issues affecting the country.

One of the main thrusts of the research council is to encourage the continuous development of Filipino scientists and researchers as professionals and as members of a larger society. It supports researches in the basic and applied sciences to ensure the development of concepts and technologies for national development, defense, and welfare.

By facilitating the effective linkage between the government and educational, scientific, industrial, and other sectors, it ensures the optimal utilization of resources and results of scientific research.

In its 69th Annual Meeting at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel on March 2, NRCP awarded DLSU-M’s CED dean with the 2002 Achievement Award for his significant contributions in the field of Social Science Research.

In the award citation, Bernardo was recognized for his distinguished career as a prolific researcher and author, respected professor, and academic leader.

Bernardo was cited for his original contributions in the field of cognitive science especially in human problem solving, mathematical cognition, bilingual cognition, cultural and contextual factors in thinking and theories of intelligence, as well as the applications of cognitive science to education.

He was also recognized for serving as an inspiration to young scholars and academics, thus ensuring the continued growth of psychology as a discipline.
