book on Jacinto’s philosophy out
Philosophy
faculty Dr. Rolando Gripaldo will launch his new book titled
Liberty and Love: The Political and Ethical Philosophy of
Emilio Jacinto on March 22, 10:30 a.m. at the Ariston Estrada
Seminar Room. In the book’s foreword, written by Dr. William
McBride, Philosophy Professor at Purdue University, USA, he
said that Gripaldo’s “exposition and exploration of the thought
of Emilio Jacinto, treating him as a philosophical thinker
and not simply an active revolutionary, contribute significantly
to an understanding of the emerging Filipino independence
movement at the end of the 19th century.”
Gripaldo,
current director of Research and Publication of the College
of Liberal Arts, finished his PhD in Philippine Studies at
the University of the Philippines. Specializing in Filipino
philosophy, Gripaldo has published other books including Quezon-Winslow
