the Pulungang Recto, Bulwagang Rizal, University of the Philippines
on February 1.
Gawad
Guro 2002 seeks to recognize and honor teachers for their
great efforts in the propagation and intellectualization of
the national language.
Twelve outstanding teachers from all over the country received
the Kabayan Gawad Guro 2002 in two categories: teaching the
Filipino subject in the elementary and secondary levels, and
teaching the Filipino subject in the college and graduate
level. Timbreza is the sole winner in the category, teaching
a course in Filipino in the university level.

Philosophy and Letters and acting chair of the Philosophy
Department, Timbreza is known in the University as the only
one who has been teaching the subject Pilosopiyang Filipino
since 1984. He is also the first to present and defend a dissertation
paper in Filipino for a doctorate degree in philosophy.

on Pilosopiyang Filipino based on the indigenous experience
and practical skills of the Filipino people. He is the author
