On January 26, Garcia spoke on “Single-minded Proposition in Advertising and Strategic Planning” at the Marriot Hotel, Cebu City, during a PMA-Cebu Chapter sponsored seminar. The theme was “Marketing Buzzwords to Remember to Fast-Forward Growth.” Garcia is PMA’s Chairperson of Chapters for 2002

Chiong-Javier elected PHSSA president

Dr. Ma. Elena Chiong-Javier, associate professor of the Behavioral Sciences Department, was recently elected president of the Philippine Health Social Science Association (PHSSA) during its last general assembly.

Chiong-Javier was one of the Manila-based groups of social scientists and health professionals who founded PHSSA as a non-government organization committed to harnessing its collective knowledge, expertise, and resources to promote the health of the people through empowering strategies. It has since grown into a multi-centered national organization with 14 chapters throughout the country. Its members come from other non-government organizations, government agencies, and academic and research institutions.

A number of DLSU-M faculty members and Master of Health Social Science (MAHESOS) students of the Behavioral Sciences Department count among PHSSA’s active members.
