Yuchengco
Center represents Asia in think-tank conference
President
of the Yuchengco Center for East Asia and professor of International
Relations Dr. Wilfrido Villacorta represented Asia in the
conference of think-tanks on “Globalization and Political
Consulting” held in Berlin, Germany on December 9-11.
Ten
countries, namely the United States, Russia, Germany, Argentina,
South Africa, France, United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, and
the Philippines, presented papers. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation
sponsored the conference.
The
Yuchengco Center for East Asia, a research center based in
DLSU-M, has begun to expand its programs to reach out to the
public sector in the Philippines and abroad. It has provided
consulting services to Indonesian organizations on constitutional
reform and has extended training to the state university and
government ministries of Laos.
Last month, the Center sponsored a working conference on information
technology for local governments. Its fellows have conducted
courses in the Foreign Service Institute and provided inputs
to projects of government agencies.
The Center, which is part of the Philippine APEC Study Center
Network and the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia
Pacific, will engage in more public service activities in
cooperation with the La Salle Institute of Governance.
