Cruz
contributes to MLA bibliography
The
Modern Language Association of America, through its Executive
Director Phyllis Franklin, cited Dr. Isagani Cruz, professor
of the Department of Literature and Philippine Languages,
for his substantial contribution to the 2000 MLA International
Bibliography which is now available electronically and will
soon be printed.
Dr.
Isagani Cruz, who is also chair of the International Studies
Department effective this term, belongs to a network of distinguished
scholars from all over the world who compile and index articles
and journals for the MLA International Bibliography. It is
the only comprehensive bibliography in language and literature
and the major reference work in the fields of literature,
linguistics, and folklore. Those who contribute to this effort
provide an important service both to scholars and to the international
academic community.
Founded
in 1883, the Modern Language Association of America provides
opportunities for its members to share their scholarly findings
and teaching experiences with colleagues and to discuss trends
in the academy. For over a hundred years, members have worked
to strengthen the study and teaching of language and literature.
