In
pursuit of the Lasallian mission for academic excellence,
the CHED Zonal Research Center (ZRC) of De La Salle University-Manila
continues to sponsor seminars for the benefit of the Lasallian
community. On September 13, CHED–ZRC will be holding an Intellectual
Property Rights Enforcement Seminar from 8 a.m. to 12 noon
at the Waldo Perfecto Seminar Room.
Topics include the Laws on
Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights and its Penal Provisions.
The seminar is especially designed for academicians, school
administrators, research officers, librarians, engineers,
and scientists.
The speaker will be Lawyer Andre Philippe Betita, a senior
associate in the Philippine law firm of Quisumbing Torres,
an associated office of Baker & McKenzie. He specializes
in Intellectual Property Law, Information Technology and Communications,
and Licensing and Litigation.
Betita’s practice includes search and seizure operations and
other enforcement actions, including criminal litigation against
trademark and copyright infringes. He also participated in
the consultative hearings held by the Philippine government
on the drafting of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines
that has been passed into law and took effect in January 1998.
Headed by Dr. Rosemarie Montaño, the DLSU-M CHED-ZRC
conducts seminar-workshops and training programs to help strengthen
the research capabilities of higher education institutions
(HEIs).
