BNSCWRC
supports campus literary writers
One
of the advantages of being a campus writer in La Salle Schools
is the chance to sit with well-known and respected writers
in the creative writing workshops conducted by the Bienvenido
N. Santos Creative Writing and Research Center (BNSCWRC).
Three of these workshops benefited 30 college campus writers.
The first of these workshops was held on August 11 for the
fiction writers and contributors of Malate, the official student
literary journal of DLSU-M. The workshop resource persons
were Connie Jan Maraan and Danny Reyes. Maraan is the Center’s
associate for Creative Nonfiction, while Reyes is the faculty
adviser of Heights, Ateneo de Manila University’s (ADMU) official
student literary journal.
On August 18, the second workshop was organized for Malate’s
student poets and contributors. Ateneo’s Chair of the Filipino
Department Dr. Benilda Santos and BNSCWRC Director and Malate
adviser Dr. Marjorie Evasco shared valuable insights to hone
one’s craft.
The third workshop will be conducted at La Salle Lipa in Batangas
City on September 7-9. Resource persons will be Associate
Director for Poetry Dr. Cirilo Bautista, Associate Director
for Communication Arts Vince Groyon, and CJ Maraan. The highlight
of the workshop will be a poetry and fiction recital at La
Salle Lipa’s charming little hotel, Chez Avenir. Bruce Banaag,
adviser of the college student publication, will coordinate
the literary reading.
