Archers defeat Eagles in UAAP opener for the second straight year

De La Salle University-Manila’s Green Archers team defeated Ateneo de Manila‘s Blue Eagles in the game opener of the 64th University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball last July 15 at the Araneta Colisuem.

It was the second time, in the past consecutive years, that the Green Archers clinched the victory in their first game against the gasping Blue Eagles, posting an easy 91-76 victory, to gain a 1-0 head start in the UAAP men’s basketball games.

Ren Ren Ritualo, playing in his final year in the UAAP, lead the Green Archers in breaking down the Eagles defense, contributing a total of 33 points to clinch the first victory for DLSU-M.

The three-time defending champion Green Archers will be aiming for that elusive 4-peat crown this year. Coach Franz Pumaren continues to lead the team towards the fulfillment of that dream.
