CBERD presents papers to enhance local industries
College
of Business and Economics Dean Dr. Tereso Tullao, Jr. recently
presented two industry studies on behalf of the Center for
Business and Economics Research and Development.
On
January 10, he presented “An In-Depth Study on the Printing
and Publishing Industry in the Philippines” at the National
Book Development Board (NBDB) in Quezon City to an audience
composed of members of the NBDB, the Printing Industries Association
of the Philippines, the Book Exporters Association of the
Philippines, and other representatives of the printing and
publishing industry. This paper was prepared by Tullao as
project head, and Business Management faculty Raymund Habaradas
as senior researcher.
On January 26, he presented “An In-Depth Study on the Management
Consulting Industry in the Philippines” to the members of
the Institute of Management Consultants of the Philippines
at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City. This
paper was prepared by BM chair Edgardo Bolinao, project head;
and BM faculty Ma. Theresa Mosquito, senior researcher.
The
two industry studies are part of a P1.3-million research project
funded by the Philippine Exporters’ Confederation-Trade and
Investment Policy Analysis and Advocacy Support Project. This
project entitled “Development of a Philippine Program for
the Promotion of Services” is composed of a series of in-depth
studies concerning the following industries: printing and
publishing, management consulting, film, animation, accounting
and finance, hotel and restaurant, and medical and other health
services.
These
are meant to provide government and the concerned industries
with guidance in formulating policy directions and implementing
strategies that will enhance the global competitiveness of
the services sector in the country.
Five
faculty to earn graduate degrees
Five
De La Salle University-Manila faculty members will earn their
graduate degrees during the commencement exercises on Saturday
at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Judith Aldaba, Educational Management Department faculty,
Isagani Jos of the Mathematics Department, Cesar Rufino of
the Economics Department, and Eduardo Natividad, faculty of
the Religious Studies Department, will receive their doctoral
degrees. Aldaba will receive the Doctor of Education, major
in Educational Management with distinction, while Jos will
receive his Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics also with
distinction.
Rufino
will be conferred the Doctor of Business Administration and
Natividad will receive the Doctor of Education, major in Religious
Education and Values Education with high distinction and gold
medal for outstanding dissertation.
Meanwhile, Ramilito Correa of the Departamento ng Literatura
at Wikang Filipino will receive the Master of Arts in Language
and Literature.
Other
faculty from the different DLSU System schools will receive
their advanced degrees. Nathalie Rose Lim of the College of
Computer Studies will earn the Master of Science in Computer
Science while Oliver Madrid of DLSU-Dasmariñas will receive
the Master of Health Science.
Delma Robles of DLSU-College of St. Benilde will be conferred
the Master of Arts in counseling with distinction.
