CBERD presents papers to enhance local industries

College of Business and Economics Dean Dr. Tereso Tullao, Jr. recently presented two industry studies on behalf of the Center for Business and Economics Research and Development.

On January 10, he presented “An In-Depth Study on the Printing and Publishing Industry in the Philippines” at the National Book Development Board (NBDB) in Quezon City to an audience composed of members of the NBDB, the Printing Industries Association of the Philippines, the Book Exporters Association of the Philippines, and other representatives of the printing and publishing industry. This paper was prepared by Tullao as project head, and Business Management faculty Raymund Habaradas as senior researcher.

On January 26, he presented “An In-Depth Study on the Management Consulting Industry in the Philippines” to the members of the Institute of Management Consultants of the Philippines at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati City. This paper was prepared by BM chair Edgardo Bolinao, project head; and BM faculty Ma. Theresa Mosquito, senior researcher.

The two industry studies are part of a P1.3-million research project funded by the Philippine Exporters’ Confederation-Trade and Investment Policy Analysis and Advocacy Support Project. This project entitled “Development of a Philippine Program for the Promotion of Services” is composed of a series of in-depth studies concerning the following industries: printing and publishing, management consulting, film, animation, accounting and finance, hotel and restaurant, and medical and other health services.

These are meant to provide government and the concerned industries with guidance in formulating policy directions and implementing strategies that will enhance the global competitiveness of the services sector in the country.
