La Salle shares
Christmas blessing with the needy
The
Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) will lead the
Lasallian distribution of goods to the needy as part of DLSU-Manila’s
Christmas sharing. On December 22, 2 p.m., COSCA will extend
goods to the patients of the Cancer Institute and the Pediatric
Ward of the Philippine General Hospital. It will also visit
the Bahay Kalinga for Elders on the same day. Lasallians interested
to join in the outreach activities can contact the office
at locals 417/147 for details.
Last
week, COSCA also led the community in distributing Christmas
gifts to workers of its partner communities. It also distributed
gifts to the Mapalad farmers of Sumilao, Bukidnon, with the
assistance of the Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC).
The
Christmas sharing projects complement the Lasallian Christmas
celebration which will commence with the Institutional Christmas
Party on December 22, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. These initiatives
fit aptly the theme “Paskong Lasalyano: Pagkalinga sa Kapwa
Tao.” The celebration will be a gathering of all sectors—faculty,
students, co-academic personnel, administrators, and all other
members of the academic community to commemorate as one family
the coming of Christ.
At
11:30 a.m., a performance of excerpts from the Cantata will
be held, to be followed by a Mass at 12 noon. Both activities
will be held at the Amphitheater. The SPS Choir, DLSU Chorale,
Faculty-Staff Chorale, Chamber Ensemble, and the Pops Orchestra
will render musical performances in the program.
The
community will proceed to the Marian Quadrangle for a mini
salo-salo. Lasallians are encouraged to donate food to be
shared by community members in the agape feast. Those who
are interested to donate food or drinks can contact Rissa
Merritt of the Office of Student Activities at locals 732/730,
or call Sonia Casabuena of the Office of Vice President for
Academics at locals 108/109.
Meanwhile,
COSCA and the ROTC distributed goods to inmates of the National
Bilibid Prisons last week. On December 21, it will join the
Office of Career Services in giving gifts to the Aeta community
in Pampanga.
