DLWF
Book Club Meeting
Lovers of literature are invited
to join the Departamento ng Literatura at Wikang Filipino
(DLWF) Book Club on December 12, Tuesday, 1-2:30 p.m. at Java
Cafe . The group will talk about Charlson Ong’s novel “An
Embarrassment of Riches” (UP Press, 2000), which placed second
in the 1998 Centennial Literary Contest. Those who would like
to participate in the sharing session may call the DLWF at
local 509 for more information.
Art
Sale at the Gallery
The DLSU Art Gallery presents
the works of two Bulacan artists--Aro Soriano and Astrud Crisologo.
Colorful terra-cotta sculpture of Filipino icons such as the
jeepney, churches, and even Hinuligang Taktak are on exhibit.
Initially done in the eighties by Soriano, La Salle alumnus
Crisologo has taken over the marketing of these art pieces.
The Art Sale is at the ground
floor of the University Library. For those interested to purchase,
simply fill up the sign-up sheet located at the exhibit entrance.
Filing
of Tax Exemption
All faculty, administrators,
and staff whose tax status have changed within the calendar
year (January to December) by virtue of marriage, death, or
birth of additional dependents should file with the Accounting
Office their revised BIR Form 2305 (Exemption Certificate)
on or before December 20. Under the BIR rule, the status of
an individual at the end of the calendar year (December) determines
his exemption for income tax purposes.

December services
The Information Technology
Center’s network connection services (e-mail, internet, dial-up
access, etc.) will not be available on December 22 and 23.
This is due to the relocation of the server rack and recabling
of the computer room at Gokongwei Hall, Room 305.
Lasallians
mobilize ALSA-Erap
The Alliance of Lasallians
Against ERAP or ALSA-ERAP led the DLSU-Manila community in
its mobilization efforts last December 7 at the Malate Church.
The activity, coinciding with the opening of the Senate impeachment
proceesings, was organized by Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal
Sin, to commemorate the heroism of our forefathers during
the Second World War, and to challenge the people to follow
their patriotism and loyalty to the Church.
Institutional
Christmas party set
DLSU-Manila will celebrate
Christmas as one family on December 22 with the theme “Paskong
Lasalyano: Pagkalinga sa Kapwa Tao.” The celebration will
gather all sectors to welcome the coming of Christ.
The program will be staged
at the Amphitheater and will start at 11:40 a.m. with a performance
of excerpts from the Cantata, to be followed by the awarding
of the winners of the Christmas card design and the alternative
Christmas décor making contests. The community will gather
in prayer during the noon Mass. For maximum participation,
course card distribution will be suspended at 11:30 a.m. and
will resume at 1:40 p.m.
An agape feast will be shared
among community members at the Marian Quadrangle. Everyone
is encouraged to bring finger food and contribute to the meal
for the celebration.
In line with the theme, COSCA
will distribute gifts solicited from La Salle to its different
adopted communities.
