PRC confers
Achievement Award to DLSU-Manila
For excellence in accounting education
The Philippine Regulatory Commission
(PRC) and the Board of Accountancy recently bestowed the most
admired private university in Southeast Asia this year’s Achievement
Award for excelling in accounting education.
De La Salle University-Manila
topped Category 2 in the Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
licensure examinations in the years 1996 to 2000. PRC ranks
the universities and colleges by categories based on the number
of examinees they produce for a given year. For instance,
schools that fall under Category 2 have an average of 51 to
99 examinees.

Over the period of five years,
out of 786 accounting graduates who took the exams, 547 passed.
DLSU-M proudly posted a 70 percent performance level, followed
by the University of the Philippines-Visayas with 38 percent
and Pamantasan ng Lunsod ng Maynila garnering 31 percent.
Dr. Teresita Nadurata, chair
of the Accountancy Department, thanks the administration for
its continued support throughout the years. She also commends
everyone—from the dedicated faculty to the hardworking students—for
a job well done.
The award was given last November
15 at the Philippine International Convention Center during
the oath-taking ceremony of the October 2000 CPA licensure
board passers.
The recognition was presented
by PRC officials led by Chairperson Hermogenes Pobre and Board
of Accountancy Chair, Antonieta Fortuna-Ibe.
In another development, graduating
BSA students emerged winners in the inter-school accounting
quiz bee held at the San Beda last November 8. Ronelle Mendoza
won first place in the Business Law and Taxation category,
while Elynor Reyes placed second in the Theory of Accounts
and Auditing Theory category.
Every year students from various
universities and colleges from the National Capital Region
(NCR) participate in the prestigious quiz bee.
