E-Learning with IVLE: Teaching Best Practices
The Center for Educational Multimedia has to date trained 326 full-time and part-time faculty members on Online Course Design and Management (Module 2). The training focuses on the management of online course using the tools and resources of the IVLE courseware. However, online teaching requires more than just the technical applications of a courseware. As an evolving educational practice, online teaching demands other pedagogical knowledge, skils and other teaching competencies on the part of the online teacher. These practices may include, designing online course content, prompting and sustaining online interactions and engaging students in critical and reflective thinking.
The Courcil of Deans has continuously expressed their support in hybrid teaching practice following the specified guidelines. Hence, many faculty members today expressed their intentions to conduct hybrid classes. But how do these trained faculty deliver their online courses?
In order to improve online teaching practices and to address all these fallacies associated to online teaching and learning, the Center for Educational Multimedia (CREM) is pleased to invite you to its forum on "E-Learning with IVLE: Practices and Techniques" to be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 1:30 - 2:30 p.m., Room 306, Miguel Bldg.
The forum will feature four (4) practicing online professors to share their online teaching practices and experiences using IVLE. Guidelines on chatroom management will likewise be introduced.
Due to limited number of seats in the e-classroom, CREM extends this invitation to the first forty (40) faculty members of De La Salle University-Manila.
Please confirm your attendance thru Miss Tess Abad at local 563 on or before August 7, 2006.
Thank you and see you there!
