Infusing and implementing social development concerns within the academic requirements of the university.
To date, COSCA is taking the lead in undertaking the social/community development components of the following academic requirements:

The National Service Training Program (NSTP) was established in 2001 under Republic Act No.
9163. It has been envisioned that through NSTP
civic consciousness and defense preparedness will be instilled in the youth
by developing
the
values of community service and patriotism.
The goal of NSTP is to harness the potentials of the youth/studentry to contribute to nation building.
The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) is an optional program under NSTP. It provides an opportunity for Lasallian students to contribute in the improvement of the general welfare and the quality of life of local poor communities.
The Formation Phase (C1) is the first stage of the CWTS component of the NSTP. Under C1, the capabilities of students to provide services to marginalized and deprived communities are enhanced through six (6) classroom sessions and two (2) field exposures.
The Community Service (C2) is the second and final phase of the CWTS component of the NSTP. Under C2, students are given the opportunity to implement projects in partnership with local marginalized and deprived communities are enhanced through three (3) classroom sessions and eight (8) field implementation.

The Community Service Program or CSP is a component of the courses Relstri and Tredtwo, subjects on Christian Morality. It is a joint undertaking of the Theology and Religious Education Department (TRED) and COSCA, the social action arm of De La Salle University.
The CSP is the venue designed for students to put their faith in action and carry out the theories discussed in class, specifically the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy. Thus, at least 12 hours of direct service work with COSCA's partner organizations are required from those enrolled in the course. Students will be encountering with individuals in need, and will be deployed in centers like animal welfare, youth-at-risk, street children, prisoners, the urban poor, among others.

The Religious Studies IV is one of the course requirements for all students of the De La Salle University (DLSU) in Manila. This course (along with Relstri and TREDTWO) is being offered by the Theology and Religious Education Department (TRED) of the College of Liberal Arts (CLA). Relsfor focuses on the teachings of the Church on Social Justice.
Relsfor basically has two components - the classroom discussion and the community service component. TRED professors handle the theoretical discussions on the role and positions of the Church on issues of the poor and marginalized, while COSCA implements and manages the community service aspect of the courses, providing students an exposure to slices of Philippines realities, and a venue to concretize the theoretical exchanges. This combination of theory and praxis hopes to contribute to the formation of our learners in developing critical thinking and promoting volunteerism, as part of their formation as responsible and responsive Filipino youth.
The Relsfor community service programs (CSP),
The CSP provides the short (16 hours) "face-to-face encounter" and "hands-on" experience for the students to see the theories they've discussed as they are outside the confines of the classroom/University.
COSCA ties-up with different civil society actors …
To create this small "window" of opportunity to experience and understand an issue in Philippine society from the lens of the oppressed and the exploited, and guide the students to contribute to addressing their concerns through the production of an advocacy project
