Transformative Learning:
Understanding its Rationale and Goals in the GE
Curriculum

The seminar-workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to the rationale and pedagogy of Transformative Learning in the General Education or GE courses. Priority is given to teachers handling GE courses. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of the GE modules written for their course. Through a set of exercises, participants will gain a better understanding of the design, sequence and contents of the GE module.
Transformative Learning: Developing Student Inquiry and Processing their Findings
Speaker: Dr. Mike Rapatan (Director – ASIST)
The seminar-workshop takes a closer look at various ways of eliciting students' inquiry and processing the results of their inquiry. Particular techniques are discussed and sufficient time is given for participants to try and practice those that apply to their GE module. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of the GE modules written for their module. Through a set of activities and exercises, participants will be able to deepen their inquiry skills and develop alternatives to the procedures already existing in the modules.
Transformative Learning: Assessing Changes in Understanding
Speaker: Dr. Mike Rapatan (Director – ASIST)
The seminar-workshop covers various techniques in assessing students' changes in understanding of the key points discussed in a GE module. Priority is given to teachers handling GE courses. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of the GE modules written for their course. Through a set of activities and exercises, participants will be able to deepen their assessment skills and develop alternatives to the procedures already existing in the modules.
