VISION:

The Office of ASIST aims to help the College Deans and their faculty develop, conduct, and evaluate programs which foster understanding about the mission of a Lasallian university educator in the 21st century and equip them with the corresponding skills and values that enable them to attain their department's curriculum objectives and achieve excellence in facilitating learning and in the use of varied educational multimedia technologies.

LEARNING TRACKS:

In pursuit of this vision, ASIST provides training modules and other related services in four tracks:

Learning Track I. Lasallian Education– covers the guiding principles and philosophy of Lasallian education and the distinguishing marks of a Lasallian school and educator

Learning Track II. GE Curriculum – features understanding Transformative Learning and the Lasallian Core Curriculum and the general processes of doing a needs assessment, syllabus writing and adopting contemporary instructional designs in the preparation of learning materials and conducting student assessment and course evaluation.

Learning Track III. Contemporary Pedagogy – focuses on contemporary approaches in education and specific strategies related to facilitating learning, classroom management, and assessment of student performance

Learning Track IV. Using Educational Multimedia Technologies – includes the improvement and enhancement of teaching and learning through the proper and effective use of educational multimedia technologies

TRAINING MODULES:

The training modules are open to all faculty in all colleges. Module sessions may run from half-day to whole day. Some sessions may also run as a series as in the case of topics related to Transformative Learning. Faculty have to sign-up for the modules (either online or call ext. 563 and speak with the Secretary). A minimum number of participants is set in order to conduct a module.

With the exception of the technology track where all teachers have to take the first module prior to the succeeding modules, the modules in the other tracks are stand-alone units so teachers may attend the modules in any sequence. Any department may also request ASIST to package and customize a set of modules for its teachers.
