Systems Services
The Systems Services (SS) unit is responsible for the development, implementation,
and maintenance of the computerization and information technology plans and
programs of the DLSU Library. It oversees the day-to-day administration of the
different computer hardware and software facilities, operations and applications
that are essential in the delivery of automated library services. It works closely
with the Information Technology Center (ITC) of the university in the provision
of computer and network facilities and services that respond to IT requirement
of the library.
Use of Computing Facilities
- All authorized library users may use the computing facilities in the library
building to access the online catalog, databases, electronic journals, and
other online reference sources.
- Full Internet access is provided only at the graduate corners, Cybernook,
IMS viewing room, IMS mini e-classroom, ASRC, EDRC and Ortigas room.
- Use of personal laptops is allowed in designated areas of the library for
Internet access and for research purposes.
- Network cards for personal laptops may be borrowed at Room 203 for wireless
Internet access.
Policies for Borrowing Wireless Network Card
- The service is only open to DLSU students, faculty and employees who
check-in their personal laptop computer in the library building. The laptop
should have a PCMCIA
slot and be compliant with the IEEE
802.11b standard.
- The wireless network card may be use inside and outside the library
premises.
- The card can only be checked out at Room 203 upon presentation of personal
laptop and ID card. The ID card is kept on file until the card is returned.
- Borrowing is on a first-come, first-served basis
- Loan period is for a maximum of six (6) hours.
- Assistance is provided in installing the network card.
- Battery-run laptop computers are preferred due to the limited electrical
outlets at the designated areas.
- The loss and damage of the card is shouldered by the borrower.
- The library is not liable to the loss and damage of the patron's
laptop computer.
- Library-owned PCs and laptops are installed with specific university and
library licensed software. Users are prohibited to install any software or
store personal files and data in any computer.
- Printing service is available at the Information-Reference, Archives, ASRC
and EDRC. Laser printing is charged at Php3.00 per page.
- Scanning service is available at the Periodicals Section at P10.00 per scan.
- Any technical problem encountered when using the computers should be reported
immediately to any library personnel.
Use of Cybernook Facilities
Number of PCs: 32 units
To better service a greater number of students and efficiently monitor the
use of the facilities the following policies/guidelines and procedures are observed:
- Four shifts are scheduled to allow users to access the Cybernook facilities:

- Three break periods are scheduled daily to allow the area to be entirely vacated by users:

3:00 to 3:15 Afternoon |
- One user per computer will be followed. At most 40 users should be inside the Cybernook at any one
time.
- No user will be allowed to access and stay in the Cybernook for two consecutive shifts
- Anybody caught altering the system configuration will be banned from accessing the Cybernook facilities
for the remainder of his/her academic life at DLSU.
