Pathfinder : Quantum Mechanics
Scope Note:
Quantum mechanics (QM), also called wave mechanics, is the modern theory of matter, of
atoms, molecules, solids, and of the interaction of electromagnetic fields with matter. It
supersedes the classical mechanics embodied in Newton's laws and contains them as a
limiting case (the so-called classical limit of QM). (Source: Encyclopedia of Applied Physics.

A History of Quantum Mechanics
http://www.gap-system.org/~history/HistTopics/The_Quantum_age_begins.html
"This page is an article by: J J O'Connor and E F Robertson which traces the
beginnings of quantum theory from 1859 until 1932."
Quantum Mechanics-Wikipedia
http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_mechanics
"Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia defines Quantum mechanics, also referred to as
quantum physics, as a physical theory that describes the behavior of matter at short
length scales."
Visual Quantum Mechanics
http://www.kfunigraz.ac.at/imawww/vqm/
"Quantum mechanics governs the behavior of nature on a fundamental level. The basic
dynamical law is the Schrödinger equation. It describes strange phenomena far beyond the
realm of our everyday experience."
What is a wave function?
an introduction to quantum mechanics.
http://www.chemistry.ohio-state.edu/betha/qm/
"An introduction to the principles of quantum mechanics is presented here. It is
intended to supplement the discussion of hydrogen and many-electron orbitals commonly
found in general chemistry text books with a deeper understanding of the underlying
physical principles."
