Pathfinder :  Digital Asset Management

Digital Asset Management is a way of organizing, manipulating and sharing media materials such as print, images, video and audio materials quickly and easily.

Also known as "media asset management" or "digital asset warehousing" which simply mean a centralized repository for any and all materials of digital content. Short descriptions or thumbnails of digital content, known as metadata are stored in a database for easy searching and management. This metadata is linked to the actual image, file or video clip, normally stored on a server. Source: http://www.naa.org/technews/tn981112/editorial.html
