SEMINARS

In order to enhance the professional welfare of its members and to promote continuing education, PAARL decided to conduct seminar-workshops beginning December 1977.  The first was the Seminar-Workshop on Descriptive and Subject Cataloging of Filipiniana Materials, with Mrs. Emelinda de Jesus and Susana Ferrer of the UP Main Library's Technical Services Division as speakers.  The success of the first seminar-workshop was followed by another one in 1981 with Mrs. Pat Nievera, the Ramon Magsaysay Presidential Papers archivist, and Mrs. Yolanda Granada, head of the UP Archives, as resource persons on the seminar-workshop on Archives Administration at the National Library on November 5-6, 1981.  After these initial successes, PAARL institutionalized this program by conducting one such activity every year.
