General Guidelines on the Use of Archival Materials

  • All bonafide users of the DLSU Library may use the Archives and Special Collections.
  • Users are permitted to bring only their pen and writing paper or note-cards inside the Research Room.
  • ID and/or Borrower's card are required and kept in file until all materials used are returned.
  • Users must sign up the Register or Logbook upon entering the Archives Room.
  • Users of unpublished materials, University records, and personal papers or manuscript collections are required to fill up an application form in advance prior to an interview with the Archivist on the nature and scope of research.
  • Users are required to fill out a charge slip for every material used and submitted to the desk attendant before the material is taken into the reading room.
  • All archival materials used must be examined before and after use. The user is responsible for material(s) issued, and is liable for loss or damage.
  • A limited amount of material may be taken out at one time.
  • All archival materials are strictly for room use. Exceptions to this rule must have prior authorization from the Archivist.
  • Care in proper handling of archival material is advised. Users are instructed not to bend, fold, trace or write on them, nor place heavy or sharp objects on them.
  • All materials used must be returned to the desk attendant and re-shelved only by the Archives personnel.
  • The Archivist reserves the right to withhold access to any information or material in the Archives collection in observance of certain restrictions imposed upon them.
