I-IC CELEBRATES ITS
25TH YEAR!
The Inter-Institutional
Consortium, founded on November 4, 1974, is celebrating its silver anniversary. With its
theme "25 Years of Fruitful Collaboration", four activities have been lined up
from March until November of 1999.
The opening celebration was held
on March 4, 1999 at the Philippine Normal University. An ecumenical service led by Rev.
Philip del Rosario was held at the Universitys Worship Center. This was followed by
a ceremonial release of balloons where all the heads of the member schools, De La Salle
University, Philippine Christian University, Philippine Normal University, St. Paul
College of Manila and St. Scholasticas College, released their school balloons which
had been tied together as a symbol of unity and collaboration. Reception followed at the
Library lobby. Entertainment was provided by the St. Paul College of Manila Glee Club and
the St. Scholasticas College Chamber Orchestra.
On August 14, 1999 the Sports
Festival was held at the gymnasium of St. Scholasticas College. Exhibition
volleyball and basketball games were played with each team composed of a mixed group of
faculty, students and staff from all five I-IC member schools. After the games followed
well-applauded demonstrations of different ballroom dances performed by each school. The
affair ended with a fellowship luncheon for everyone.
The I-IC Medical Mission went to
Barangay Putatan in Muntinlupa on October 2, 1999. Twenty registered nurses, faculty,
staff and students from different I-IC member institutions were present to assist the four
volunteer doctors and eight volunteer dentists. Free medical and dental consultations,
treatments, as well as tooth extractions were done. The I-IC volunteers also distributed
free medicines to the members of the community.
On November 18, 1999, the I-IC
will hold its final 25th year celebration activity at the Marilen Gaerlan
Conservatory of De La Salle University. The activity will commence with a Eucharistic
celebration. An exhibit featuring the different projects and outputs of the I-IC will be
on display. The I-IC video produced by the Educational Media and Technology Committee will
be shown. The I-IC homepage will be inaugurated. More importantly, a ceremony honoring the
I-IC founders and other respected people who have contributed to the growth and
development of the Consortium will take place. Entertainment will be provided by the St.
Paul College of Manila Glee Club, Philippine Normal University Kislap Sining Dance Troupe,
St. Scholasticas College Battig Music Trio, Philippine Christian University Dance
Troupe, and De La Salle University Chorale. Cocktails will follow the celebration.
