De
La Salle University (DLSU) is a Catholic educational institution established
by the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 1911. The University has traditionally been a
school for boys; however, recognizing the need for Catholic womens education, it
opened its doors to female students in 1973. In 1975, the change of status from college to
university was granted. By school year 1981-1982, the trimestral academic calendar was
adopted by the University.
Guided by the gospel values, the
charism of its Saint John Baptist De La Salle, and the values Religio, Mores and
Cultura, De La Salle University serves as a resource for Church and Nation by
developing Christian Achievers for God and Country. Consonant with its tradition of
excellence, the University commits itself to pursue relevant and responsive academic
programs, research, and extension services; thus forming competent and ethical
professionals who integrate faith, life, and culture for meaningful leadership in society.
Through innovative management, state-of-the-art technology, networking and resource
sharing, provisions for equitable access to Lasallian education, and leadership in
education, the University contributes to building a just and humane society.
DLSU offers undergraduate and
graduate courses under the Colleges of Business and Economics, Education, Engineering,
Liberal Arts, and Science. Its Manila campus also houses the College of Computer Studies
as well as the Graduate School of Business under the DLSU-Professional Schools, Inc.
