Applying in DLSU
- How can I contact the Admissions Office for questions about application
procedures?
Visit the College
Admissions Office (CAD) or Graduate
Admissions Office (GAO) web pages.
- I'm interested in applying to DLSU as an undergraduate, how can I secure a brochure?
Upon your
application for freshman entrance exam, you will automatically
be given a copy of the brochure.
- What are the requirements for admission to
De La Salle University?
Admission requirements include a filled-out
application form, certified true copies of secondary school records
(freshman to 1st quarter of senior year grades), certified true copy
of birth certificate, and two (2) recommendation letters from the
school principal, class adviser or counselor. The application
form can be acquired via the web site or from the Admissions
Office (LS 101A).
- What is the weight given to the entrance examination, high school
grades, and involvement in extra/co-curricular activities? Are there
other criteria for admission?
The students' grades and examination results
are weighted to compute the Academic Potential Index (API). The
API is measured against the required score for every degree program.
If the student's API measures up to the cut-off score set for the
particular degree program, then the applicant is admitted.
- Is it true that those
who score high in the entrance exam are given more priority over
other applicants, regardless of how they stand in the other criteria
for admission (i.e., High School grades)?
The evaluation scheme of De
La Salle takes into consideration all the set criteria. Once a
student is admitted, it is assumed that the student has the aptitude
for the degree program of his/her first or second choice.
- Do we reserve an
admission quota for each high school institution?
No, we don't. We
admit students based on their aptitudes, capabilities, high school
performance, and not the school they come from.
- If one fails to qualify
for admission, are there other options available? Can they make
an appeal to be admitted?
Students who have previously applied yet failed
to make it to the cut-off will always have a second chance to apply
at the University. The admission of these students will depend on
the result of their re-evaluation and the number of slots available.
- What
are the Grade Point Average (GPA) and test scores for students
entering DLSU-Manila?
A Grade Point Average (GPA) of 80% and above has a better
chance of qualifying in the University.
- Does DLSU-Manila offer scholarships?
Yes, the University offers
scholarships and financial aids to deserving students who show
strong academic capabilities. These aids include University-funded
grants, endowed scholarships, annual grants by corporations, alumni
and friends of the University, scholarships by outside entities,
tuition discount and family tuition privilege, and loan program.
You may also visit the Student Financial Assistance
(SFA) web pages.
- My dream is to study
in DLSU-Manila someday. How can I prepare?
You should look beyond
the here and now. You should invest in your future in a school where
you can be prepared adequately to face academic and professional
challenges. This does not only entail being prepared in terms
of skills development or maximizing potentials. Readiness for
the future means having the mind-set of being a step ahead. This
also means being the initiator more than the participant and
being the leader more than the follower.
