In March 2012, De La Salle University-Manila's Department of Philosophy, in cooperation with the College of Liberal Arts and College of Computer Science, will host Turing 2012: The Life and Works of Alan Turing, an event that commemorates the centenary birth anniversary of English logician, mathematician, and computer scientist Alan Turing. This event is part of the global effort spearheaded by the Turing Centenary Advisory Committee (TCAC) in celebrating the Alan Turing Year. A two-day international conference, dubbed "Turing 2012: International Conference on Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science," on Turing's contributions in several disciplines will be its highlight. Among the confirmed speakers for the conference include the following:
The conference will focus on different academic fields Turing directly influenced, like philosophy, artificial intelligence, computer science, theories of computing, mathematics, cryptography, biology, and psychology. It will also feature topics which could be associated to him, such as international relations, gender studies, and developments in cyberspace. For those interested to attend and/or present a paper, kindly visit the conference website. The best papers will be considered for publication in special editions of the International Journal of Computational Vision and Robotics and International Journal of Information and Communication Technology.
