Contest Mechanics/Terms and Conditions:
In this year's Lasallian Action Week, The Lasallian Pastoral Office (LSPO) and the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) together with the ProArchers Photography Club (DLSU Graduate Students) and UnITED (Union of Student Inspired Towards Education), presents Lasallian Action Week 2009 Photo Contest and Exhibit. The photo contest and exhibit aims to describe and capture through photography the current condition, situational-analyses made and responses taken on the issues surrounding the youth-at-risk and the quality of education in the Philippines. The theme of the contest is: The Youth-at-Risk and Education as seen through the Lasallian Lens of Faith, Service and Communion in Mission.
- The contest is open to all DLSU undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, alumni, and staff. Professional and amateur photographers are all welcome to join.
- The contest is not open to the organizers (officers of the ProArchers Photography Club and volunteers and staff of LSPO and COSCA) but they may submit photos for exhibition purposes only.
- Digital or manual cameras may be used for taking pictures. Each participant should submit his/her entry together with a completed Entry Form and the original film negative or digital file of the photo.
- Images in the photo entries should not contain any markings such as watermarks. Only minor enhancements such as cropping, brightness & contrast, sharpening, and levels are allowed. Major enhancements such as adding of other elements not present in the photo are not allowed.
- Colored or Black and White entries must be printed on unmounted A4 size (8.267x11.693 inches) Matte or Glossy. Maximum border allowed is only one (1) inch on all sides of the paper.
- The photographer must submit three (3) copies of their entry, placed in a long brown envelope. Label the back of the envelope and the back of the photograph with your name, program, ID number and contact information (cellphone number and email address). Please indicate if you are a faculty member, alumni, or staff in lieu of the student ID number.
- Each entry should come with a quotation that best fits the subject of the photograph. The quotation can come from any of the following:
- The Holy Bible
- The writings of St. John Baptist De la Salle
- The Lasallian Guiding Principles
- The Social Teachings of the Catholic Church
- The label at the back of the photograph should not be more than one inch high, at the lower left portion of the back side of the work.
- The photographer should not put his name or any distinguishing marks on the photograph. A separate paper containing the caption, camera used, date and place the entry was taken and the name and contact details (mobile number and email) of the photographer should be submitted with the photograph.
- Entries must be appropriate for general viewing. Obscene, provocative, or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. It must be original, exclusive to this contest, unpublished and must not have been submitted as an entry in other photography contests.
- Each contestant can submit only one (1) entry.
- Entries are NOT required to have been taken during the current academic year.
- Entries should be submitted to the the Lasallian Pastoral Office (LSPO) at SJ101 or to the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) at SPS 401 or in any of the three GSB campuses by November 7, 2009 until 5 p.m..
- The photographer is requested to submit as well the original or raw soft copy file of their entry to Sunny Katigbak at sunny.katigbak@gmail.com. Ownership of the photographs shall remain with the photographers.
- The top 30 entries will be framed and displayed for the exhibit from November 16 to 20, 2009 at the Ground Floor Lobby of the Yuchengco Hall. All non-winning entries may be retrieved from the same offices one week after the announcement of winners. Works not taken 30 days after the announcement of winners will be disposed of upon the discretion of the organizers.
- The winners will be declared during the opening mass of the Lasallian Action Week on November 16, 2009, 12:10 p.m. at the Pearl of Great Price Chapel. Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
- Theme Execution (50 points)
- Creativity (25 points)
- Impact (25 points)
