To estimate a medium scale DSGE model for the Philippine economy.

Objectives
  • To learn the conceptual, technical and procedural requisites needed to mathematically formulate the theoretical core of a basic small scale DSGE model for a closed economy.
  • To know how to determine steady states and undertake linearization techniques that will allow one to apply linear algebra–based solutions.
  • To know feasible solution techniques (for recursive equilibrium law of motion) that will allow us to carry out simulations on how shocks are propagated throughout the economic system.
  • To be able to employ softwares (e.g. Dynare and Matlab) in computing for the solutions.
Workshop Topics
  • Session 1: Formulation of a DSGE model
  • Session 2: Solving a simple DSGE model
  • Session 3: Estimating a simple DSGE model
  • Session 4: Extension to a simple DSGE model
