Literature Department

The Department of Literature offers various services and specialized courses in literature and culture for all colleges in the University. The Department has a faculty that is strong in creative writing as well as in research on Philippine literature and culture.

Vision - Mission

The Department of Literature aims to be the leading center of literary studies in the Philippines, in the areas of: 

Literary pedagogy – on both the graduate and undergraduate levels; in both the major and the core curriculum courses; in seminar-lecture courses on literary history, literary genres, and literary theory, as well as in craft-workshop courses in creative writing.

Literary research – primarily in the field of Philippine literary history and its regional constituents; in critical theory and poetics, literary and cultural criticism; and in the genres of theoretical-critical writing as well as of creative writing.
