Social Action Program

The CED Social Action Program is dedicated to help improve the quality of education of the underprivileged and marginalized. It also aims to encourage service learning where the volunteers serve to learn and learn to serve.

This is realized by:

  • Providing teacher training to public school teachers and supervisors;
  • Running a nursery school for disadvantaged preschool kids of Leveriza;
  • Linking funding entities with projects to improve public education;
  • Training street educators;
  • Educating Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) volunteers;
  • Helping Philippine Sports for the Differently-Abled (PHILSPADA) train coaches, trainers, and volunteers who will help improve the sports management of the differently-abled athletes;
  • Collaborating with the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) and Caucus on Poverty Reduction to meet the needs of partner institutions and organizations including service learning in selected courses.

  • Nursery School at Leveriza (since 1997)
  • Operation Big Brother (since December 2000)

Previous Outreach Projects

  • Certificate Program for Street Educators (1998-2001)
  • Gregorio Perfecto teacher training (December 2000-March 2001)
  • Teacher Training of volunteers for the Urban Poor Institute for Community Building, Incorporation's Child Development Centers (July 2000)
  • DLSU-PHILSPADA training of coaches, trainers, and volunteers who will help improve the sports management of the differently-abled. (July 2000)
