Accountancy
The Accounting program prepares students for careers in accounting and related fields, and makes them ready
to deal effectively with the problems they will face as profesional accountants and responsible citizens. The
program aims to develop the qualities that enhance the student's professional competence, awareness of his responsibilities
to society and appreciation of an accountant's high standard of integrity and objectivity.
Academic Programs and Services
The Accountancy Department will intensify its excellent accountancy program by:
- offering the BSA curriculum with the inclusion of on-the-job training in auditing firms during summer and
hands-on training for computer subjects.
- studying the possibility of offering double-program BSA with emphasis on management accounting and its final
offering.
- coordinating the accountancy program with the proposed CPA Review Program.
- monitoring the application of values integrated in the accounting syllabi.
- maintaining direct contacts with alumni and representatives of auditing firms or business industries to solicit
inputs for the curriculum updates.
Student Quality and Quantity
Faculty
- To build up roster of accounting faculty members equipped with master's degrees (if possible doctoral degrees)
and adequate teaching experience.
- To improve accounting faculty performance through stronger area coordinatorships and exposure to current accounting
issues.
- To intensify faculty formation programs which will develop faculty members spiritual, moral, and psychosocial
aspects.
- To participate in faculty exchange programs in local and foreign universities.
Research
- To develop research skills of our accounting faculty members and students to be used in their various quality
research and publication undertakings.
- To participate in international research projects and to publish research outputs in international journals.
Physical Facilities
- To improve physical working environment for value-oriented faculty members through provision of a bigger,
clean and well-kept air-conditioned faculty room equipped with advanced technology and communication equipment.
Administrative Concerns
- To develop plans of executing the functions of human resource management in the accountancy department level
- To improve strategies on budget control and report system at the department level.
- To participate actively in all department, college, university activities, especially the PAASCU accreditation.
Alumni Development
- to identify and follow-up the accountancy alumni membership for continuing formation and practice of the Lasallian
values in their personal and professional lives.
- to involve the alumni to become part of the accounting faculty.
- to involve the alumni in the design and review of accounting programs relevant to the training of students.
